The brightest stars of the figure skating world will take over the Helsinki Ice Hall from November 15th to 17th, as Finland hosts its fourth-ever Grand Prix series event.
The Figure Skating Grand Prix is a series of six top-level international competitions. These events are held in the largest figure skating countries around the world. The best skaters from the World Championships are invited to compete in the Grand Prix series. In these events Athletes compete for spots in the Grand Prix Final, which takes place in December in France.
At the Finlandia Trophy, we will see the reigning world champions in pairs skating and the World Championship silver medalists in Women’s, Men’s, and Ice Dance categories. Fan-favorite Loena Hendrickx and many other stars will also be participating. For the home crowd, the excitement will be heightened by Juulia Turkkila and Matthias Versluis’s battle for a Grand Prix medal.
Finlandia Trophy Helsinki was supposed to be followed by a two-day invitational competition in Synchronized Skating. However, due to challenges related to the number of participants, Sunday’s Short Program competition will unfortunately have to be cancelled. The Free Skating competition of the domestic Synchro Tour Finland will take place as usual on Monday, November 18th.
